Surfing
Waikiki is especially popular for beginner surfers because the water is not too rough. Sign up for lessons and/or rent a surfboard at nearby Kuhio Beach and join in the fun.
Snorkeling
Pick up some inexpensive snorkeling gear across the street at one of the many ABC Stores or rent some higher quality equipment. Snorkeling is popular all over the island and anywhere you go, you'll see some wonderful marine life. For more chances to see Hawaiian marine life including coral, consider a visit to the Waikiki Aquarium.
Catamaran and Outrigger Rides
Catch the boats right there at the beach and go out for a nice ride, catch a few waves and then, the boat comes back and drops you back off at the beach. No commuting necessary. If you go on an outrigger, prepare to help row. If you go on a catamaran, just sit back and relax.
