Things To Do In Honolulu

There are so many things to do in Honolulu and Waikiki that you will never get bored. Many activities are inexpensive and even free so even if you are on a budget, you will have plenty to do while you enjoy your Hawaiian vacation.

Beaches and Snorkeling

The beaches are free including the world famous Waikiki Beach and there is so much to do! There’s the beautiful sandy beaches for sun bathing. There’s calmer protected water for kids or swimmers that don’t want rough water. There’s exciting waves for those who want to surf and body board. There are concessions on the beach for snacks and for your convenience, showers and restrooms.

Even where there are a lot of tourists, you can go snorkeling and see some wonderful marine life, including sea turtles. If you don’t have your own equipment, there are plenty of places to buy or rent inexpensive gear.

Chinatown and First Friday

Chinatown has more than just great Chinese food! Chinatown has all types of restaurants plus street markets. (Many Waikiki chefs come here to get their ingredients!) And the first Friday of every month, you can enjoy a free Gallery Walk. Shops, galleries and restaurants stay open late and welcome visitors.

Museums and Cultural Activities

Honolulu has some unique cultural museums with exhibits you can’t see anywhere else. Learn about Hawaiian culture and how it was effected by Westerners. You can also visit one of a kind war museums like Pearl Harbor.

You can experience Hawaiian culture first hand at the many free classes and performances in Waikiki. The Royal Hawaiian Center, Ala Moana Shopping Center and Ward Center all offer free classes and shows.

Shopping

Whether you are looking for souvenirs for friends and family back home or if you are looking for some hot fashions for yourself, you’ll find shopping centers and boutiques to find what you need.

  • Luxury Row
  • The International Marketplace

Day Spas

You’re on vacation. You deserve to treat yourself so how about a spa treatment? You can go all out at one of the big resorts that have everything, and you can spend the whole day there. They usually offer treatments, saunas, jacuzzis and more to help relieve all your stress.

If you’re looking for something more affordable (the day spas at the resorts are definitely worth the price but they are expensive!) try the smaller hotels and hair salons. You won’t get all the extras of the day spas but you’ll enjoy a quality massage or facial.

Ask about adding aromatherapy to your treatment.
