Honolulu Public Transportation

Honolulu Public Transportation makes it easy to get around Waikiki, Honolulu and the rest of Oahu. Visitors have a few unique options that save time and money.

TheBus

TheBus has extensive routes in the main Honolulu areas but also goes all over the island. TheBus can get you to many tourist spots too such as Hanauma Bay and The Polynesian Culture Center. Around Waikiki and Honolulu, the buses comes around very often but when you go outside the city, the buses pass less often. If you are flexible with your time, using the bus will save you money on gas and parking.

Trolleys

Open air trolleys are a great way to get where you're going and see the sights. The Pink Line links Ala Moana and Waikiki. The Red Line is the historic sightseeing tour. The Blue Line will take you along the coastline of East Oahu. The Yellow Line is the shopping tour. There is a free trolley that runs between the major hotels in Waikiki and the Duty Free Gallery. There are also a few special tour trolleys.

The Proposed Rail System

There are plans to build an elevated rail system that would be part of the existing public transportation system. The plan is still controversial and would be quite expensive.
