Ala Wai Boulevard
Ala Wai Boulevard is one of Waikiki's main streets that runs one way along the Ala Wai canal. Free parking is available on the canal side of the street. You must move your vehicle for the weekly street cleaning so check the signs. Not all apartments and condos come with assigned parking so many Waikiki residents park here.
Caution: The water in the Ala Wai Canal is very dirty so swimming or fishing in the Ala Wai is not a good idea.
There is lots of free parking at the end of Waikiki throughout the park. This is a great place to park if you're visiting the Honolulu Zoo or Waikiki Aquarium. The Zoo has some very close metered parking or you can park for free and just walk a little bit. This parking area is within walking distance of central Waikiki shopping and beaches or you can also just hop on a public bus.
Shopping Malls and Supermarkets
The major shopping malls including The Ala Moana Shopping Center, The Ward Center and Warehouse and Kahala Mall have their own free parking. Even the Food Pantry, a grocery in the heart of Waikiki, has a small parking lot for customers.
Most markets have parking though the smaller places have fewer spaces and usually have a time limit.
Finding Free Honolulu Parking is definitely a challenge. If you don't find any free parking, there are quite a few parking garages that validate as well as metered street parking. Some of the garages have small spaces and tight aisles so please drive carefully.
Find a spot, park the car and enjoy your time in Honolulu!
