January Events
New Year's Ohana Festival
Takes place at the Japanese Cultural Center. Cultural exhibits, entertainment, food and craft demonstrations.
The Sony Open
Every year, some of the world's greatest golfers come to play golf in paradise and raise money for charity.
Chinese New Year Chinatown. Lots of entertainment, lion dance, food, pageants and more.
NFL Pro Bowl
Aloha Stadium. All-Star Game that features AFC players against NFC players.
The Friday evening before the game, the end of Kalakaua Ave is closed to traffic for a Pro Bowl Block Party with concerts, food, games and they even give away some Pro Bowl tickets.
Great Aloha Run
From Aloha Tower to Aloha Stadium.
March Events
Prince Jonah Kuhio Kalanianaole Day
March 26. This is a state holiday. City and county offices are closed but federal offices are open. TheBus runs on a holiday schedule.
Hawaii International Jazz Festival
Takes place at various resort hotels. Hear jazz played by musicians from around the world.
State Fair
Aloha Stadium Parking Lot. Food, games, booths and rides.
June Events
Pan-Pacific Hula Festival
Ala Moana Center Stage.
July Events
King Kamehameha I Day
June 11. This is a state holiday.
Tinman Triathlon
Swim, bike, run that finishes at Kapiolani Park.
King Kamehameha Hula Competition
Blaisdell Center. Male, female and mixed groups from all over the world perform traditional and contemporary styles.
Ukulele Festival
Kapiolani Park Bandstand. A concert featuring the finest ukulele players in the world, along with Hawaii's top entertainers.
August Events
Statehood Day or Admissions Day
Third Friday of August-State Holiday.
Hawaii International Jazz Festival
Downtown Honolulu. Includes evening concerts at the Hawaii Theatre.
AT&T Hawaii Dragon Boat Festival
Ala Moana Beach Park. Teams from all over the world race their dragon boats. Food, crafts, entertainment and cultural exhibits.
Wood Show
The Hawaii Forest Industry Association puts on this exhibition every year at various venues. It features furniture, musical instruments and other carvings made of Hawaiian grown wood.
September/October Events
Aloha Festivals
Various activities throughout the island of Oahu. Ceremonies, parades and other entertainment.
October Events
Ala Moana Hotel Octoberfest
Ala Moana Hotel. Hawaii's largest and longest-running Bavarian festival.
Hana Hoohiwahiwa O Kaiulani & Princess Kaiulani Keiki Hula Festival
Sheraton Princess Kaiulani Hotel. A week of activities including hula lessons, lei making, ukulele lessons and performances to commemorate the birthday of Princess Victoria Kaiulani.
Honolulu Orchid Society Orchid Show
Blaisdell Center. Orchids on display and for sale.
November Events
Honolulu Harbor Festival
From Aloha Tower Marketplace to the Hawaii Maritime. Enjoy food, live entertainment and prize giveaways.
World Invitational Hula Festival
Blaisdell Center hosts Hawaii's largest hula competition. Includes Hawaiian crafts, vendors, food and the traditional Hawaiian massage called Lomi Lomi.
King Kalakaua's Birthday
Iolani Palace. Celebrate King Kalakaua's Birthday and see the annual review of the Royal Guard.
Waikiki Holiday Parade
Down Kalakaua Avenue the day after Thanksgiving.
December Events
Honolulu City Lights
Christmas Tree and decorations at City Hall. Light parade down King Street plus a holiday concert. Mele Kalikimaka (Merry Christmas)!
National Pearl Harbor Remebrance Day
December 7 is the day we remember the attack on Pearl Harbor marking the United States' entrance into World War II. United States flags are flown at halfmast and special ceremonies are held throughout the country, including very special ones held at the Arizona Memorial.
