Last month, the SuperFerry had to shut down. There is still much discussion about that decision and what possibility there is of getting a ferry system back.

North Shore polo starts a month early this year. The first game is Sunday, March 22. Come see some amazing horses and riders play right by the ocean. We are looking forward to some exciting games and the scenery is always spectacular!
The 2009 Great Aloha Run is coming up on February 16. It's an 8.15 mile or about 13.8 kilometer run through Honolulu. For more information on the race itself and the many activities and events going on visit the GAR website.
In 2010, the Pro Bowl will be played in Florida. Will it return to Aloha Stadium? The future of the Pro Bowl is uncertain but this year it will still be in Hawaii.
Hawaii is an isolated state in the middle of the Pacific Ocean so getting any type of product shipped in is expensive and uses a great deal of our precious natural resources. So this holiday season, buy local. From fruit and coffee to clothes to all those presents your friends and family are expecting, look for products produced and packaged here. Many places take newspapers for recycling but it's challenging finding a place to recycle magazines and phone books. Hagadone Printing, a local company, takes all sorts of paper, including magazines and phone books for recycling.
Saturday, September 27 was the National Day of Action. People came out to volunteer all over Oahu. Many volunteers helped with environmental conservation projects such as clean-ups.

Yes, it's our favorite Irish holiday so don't forget the green swimming suit! That's right, everyone is supposed to wear green on St. Patrick's Day. Consuming the very popular green beer is optional.

December 7 is the day we remember the attack on Pearl Harbor. Special ceremonies will be held throughout Honolulu and especially at the Arizona Memorial, the site of the attack.

Sunday April 22 is Earth Day 2007 and there are many acitivites you can participate in to help celebrate. The Honolulu Zoo has activities all weekend and clean ups are scheduled throughout Honolulu. Check the local newspapers for more details.

March 26th is the day we observe Prince Kuhio Day and this is a Hawaii State Holiday. City Buses will run on a state holiday schedule and city and state offices will be closed. Federal offices will be open.
